Practice
Mr. Purcell, a native of McKenzie, Tennessee, is a partner with Waldrop & Hall. He joined the firm in 1990. Prior to joining the firm, he was selected and participated in a civil internship with the United States Army Judge Advocate’s General Corps, working as a law clerk for the Army Court of Military Review. He also served as a law clerk for the Tennessee Court of Appeals under the Honorable David Farmer. His practice includes work in the areas of employment law, school law, media law, products liability, and general litigation. Mr. Purcell was admitted to practice in Tennessee in 1987. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Western, Middle, and Eastern Districts of Tennessee and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Education
In 1986, Mr. Purcell received his J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he served as vice chairman of the Moot Court Board from 1985-1986. He graduated summa cum laude from Murray State University in 1983, where he majored in journalism, radio, and television.

Mr. Purcell is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, the Jackson-Madison County Bar Association, the Counsel of School Attorneys, the Tennessee Counsel of School Board Attorneys, and the National Education Association.
